Google has rolled out some cool new features with their Google My Business (formerly Google Places) product. These are features anyone can use and best of all, it's all FREE!
- You can now make posts to your Google My Business Listing. These posts show up in search right below your search/maps listing on mobile and desktop search! Wow! What a great chance to hit those searching for your business or type industry with an ad or informational post at just the right time. The posts expire after a period of time so keep it fresh!
- You can now receive texts directly from your Google Search listing! It works when using mobile search only. Once you've claimed or created and verified your local listing, you can easily turn messaging on and off in the listing settings. When a visitor sends you a text, it comes to your phone from a number Google assigns so be prepared for that.
- Depending on your type of business, you can now add links for things like appointments or menus or services. This is very easy to do. Click to edit your main information and enter your appropriate link in the space provided.
⟩ As an additional note to this post, there's also a new Q&A featured that's currently being rolled out on My Business listings. Keep an eye on this if you're a local business owner as questions can be posted on your listing by visitors allowing you to answer as well as other visitors to your listing. It appears this feature is available currently using mobile search only.
